| Synopsis: Robert Louis Stevenson’s St.
Ives, based on the popular fable, is an entertaining, romantic
story that takes place during the Napoleonic Wars. A handsome French
Officer, Captain Jacques St. Ives (Barr), is captured in battle and
brought to a prisoner of war camp in Scotland. There he falls in
love with a beautiful local woman, Flora (Friel), who has ties with
the awkward British Major (Grant) in charge of the prisoner camp.
Through a series of happenstance, St. Ives befriends the Major, wins
the heart of his love interest, and discovers his long lost
Grandfather lives down the road! Miranda Richardson gives a
wonderful and lusty performance as Flora’s Aunt, Miss
Gilchrist. | |
